Located inside the castle walls, the church of Nossa Senhora da Alegria should have been rebuilt in the early 17th century, according to the legend inscribed on the main chapel door, which gives the sacristy - "This whole house was made in the year 1638 at the expense of the stewards who served in that year. " A date that coincides with the chronology pointed out by Santos Simões for the tile coating that fills the entire interior of the church. Later, in 1720, and according to another inscription also in the main chapel, the church underwent a new intervention - "Virgini Matri A. Sa. Alegria (here is a heart). Populi, Senatus, Joane, V. Portucalie, Rege, Sumpt Laurentii, Bernardes Uxoris, et al., Anno 1720, +++.

The latter, who may have been responsible for the installation of the high altar in painted carving, should, however, be related to the construction of the convent of Santa Catarina, contiguous to the church, and that never came to be finished.

The testament of D. Marianna Eugenia de Mendonça Furtado, recognized on October 8, 1730 and opened on December 12, 1837, refers to the institution of the convent, realizing that the church already existed and would be integrated as a chapel of the convent ( published by REPENICADO, 1965, pp. 143-147).

In the same document, D. Marianna asked that, if at the time of her death the convent was not yet finished, her body was buried in the main chapel of the church, which came to pass. The advanced data do not, however, allow us to understand when the works of the convent began. It is only known that in 1716 there was no money to continue its construction, which motivated the intervention of Manuel de Azevedo Fortes, asking the Chamber a solution to the case. The problems were succeeded and in 1755 the works were definitively seized due to the danger that the existence of the Powder House in the immediate vicinity (REPENICADO, 1965, p.147) consisted.

The church, of small dimensions, presents / displays a single nave and main chapel covered by semi-spherical vault, with sacristy attached to the side of the Epistle. In the façade, a portico of great simplicity is torn, with a straight line in granite, surpassed by tile panel of pattern that finishes in cross, and central niche with the image of Our Lady of the Joy in clay.

Inside, the walls are fully lined with "carpet" tiles of different patterns, which Santos Simões identified in his Corpus de Azujeria of the seventeenth century, and which may be considered quite common in this period. The lining extends through the interior of the vault of the chancel, resulting from the ensemble a very effective spatial illusion. The openings appear almost non-existent, recalling the fact that there is an earlier construction, as some authors argue, based on the urban development of the castle's interior (JORGE, 1991).

Matri. A. Sa. Alegria (representa-se aqui um coração). Sub. Proct. Hujusce. Populi. Senatus. Imp. Joane. V. Portucalie. Rege. Sumpt. Laurentii. Bernardes uxoris. Et. Aliorum Anno 1720.+++".

This church is the Matrix. Its construction began in 1789, in the place where there would be a small chapel, founded in 1311 by Lourenço Pires and his wife. It was concluded around 1873. It is a vast temple, perhaps the largest of the Alto Alentejo. The church of Santa Maria da Devesa is located at the west end of the D. Pedro V. Square. The building is oriented towards the south, it serves to him to access a flight of stairs, laying to an enclosure fenced by iron railing, with pilasters of granite, which surrounds the whole monument on the south side.

This church consists of a set of seven volumes: nave, chancel, transept, two bell towers and two sacristies. The nave is rectangular, the entire inner space is divided into four sections, separated by painted pilasters. The roof is in vault of cradle, also divided in sections by arches torais. In the first section next to the main entrance, the choir rises, in the sub-choir the ceiling is in vault of edges.

The main chapel is rectangular, the ceiling is in vault of cradle that rests on the cornice that is the continuation of the ship and the transepto, in the walls East and West, a door of access to the sacristies opens. On the north side the altar is raised. At the center of which is torn the perfect back vane that contains the image of Jesus Crucified.

It is framed between four pilasters (two on each side) painted, set on rectangular bases and crowned by decorated capitals, where a cornice rests, which is the base of a circular pediment decorated and painted in Baroque style. The ceiling is in decorated crib vault.

The main façade faces south and is flanked by two square-shaped bell-shaped bodies, each containing four windows of perfect back towers with bells, separated by pilasters formed by rectangular blocks of granite.

To the center opens the main door, the lintel is granite decorated in baroque style, in a bow shot, crowned by angel head with open wings, on a small cornice. Leading the door, two columns of granite, with ribbed shaft, rise to the lintel, where it ends with Corinthian capitals. Immediately above the cornice opens a door with iron balustrade. All this set is crowned by a kind of coat of arms with baroque decoration.

About the church of Bom Jesus little is known about the reason of having been erected there, nevertheless its construction seems to be of the beginning of the century. XVIII.

This church is located at the end of Ladeira do Bom Jesus, about 600 m north-east of the village, along the Meada road. It consists of two volumes: nave-chancel and sacristy. The nave is rectangular and covered with a cradle vault that pulls out of a cornice that runs along the side walls.

The main chapel is also rectangular, the ceiling is in cradle vault and the triumphal arch that separates the chancel of the nave is perfect back. The pavement is on elevated in relation to the one of the ship and is of brick and slabs of granite forming geometric compositions.

On top of the altar table is a set of carving that fits the image of the Crucified Good Jesus. The main façade is composed of three spans: a central one, which is the communication door with the main chapel, and by two barred sills that flank the door.

Leaning to the west, stands a small belfry with bell.
